A Day In The Life With The Fashion Stylist
I get asked all the time, what exactly a normal day looks like for a stylist like myself. The answer is , every day really is different, some of the things on a stylist’s schedule are attending fashion shows , showroom presentations and press previews to look for trends, reserve samples and find items for photo shoots. A press preview is when designers showcase their new collections for the press, stylists and editors. Unlike at a fashion show where models zoom by on the runway, at a press preview we can get an up close look at the details, feel the fabrics and meet & greet with the designer and their pr team. Here is a glimpse of what a day FULL of press previews looked like for me yesterday.
9-11am RSVP to more press preview invites happening this and next week, return phone calls, follow up with clients, have a protein shake for breakfast.
12pm Hop in a cap, 1st stop “London Show Rooms” at Industria Superstudio. The British Fashion Council rents out a space and holds a brunch every season where they bring some of England’s top designers and some of their new up and coming talent and introduces them to the American press, editors and stylists. This year it was hosted by Sarah Mower and Dylan Jones and they showcased Nicholas Kirkwood, David Koma, Agi & Sam, Baartmans and Siegel, Christopher Raeburn, Craig Lawrence, Dominic Jones Jewelry, E.Tautz, Felicity Brown, Holly Fulton, J. JS Lee, J.W. Anderson, James Long, Lee Roach, Lou Dalton, Louise Gray, Lucas Nascimento, Matthew Miller, Palmer//Harding, Shaun Samson, Sibling, Sister by Sibling, Simone Rocha, Thomas Tait and William Richard Green…

2pm RELATIVE MO press preview at Divine Studios. Some of the designers they showcased were Mary Katrantzou , Maria Francesca Pepe, MiH Jeans, Bionda Cantana, Erdem, Giles, Markus Lupfer, Sea NY, V.SP

4pm Quick lunch and more phone calls then off to the G-Star press preview. This was the 1st year that G-Star didn’t have a fashion show during New York fashion week, and their shows are always one of my favorites to attend every season! Every year G-Star was know for their elaborate sets and moving runways and great parties it was a true show and after attending 30 or so shows where the models just walk back and forth..ect it was always a great change of pace. This season they only had their press preview. Although I miss the show, I got to really get more familiar with the details and new fabric processes they are coming up with this way (one of their new fabrics is baked in an oven!)

6pm Bernardo press preview at Soho House. At this point my feet were not happy and I was ready for a drink, which they gladly provided once I walked into the room.

6:45 pm Dinner with friends and a much needed 2nd drink…Can’t wait to soak my feet!
